Short biography
Mahesh Babu was born on 9th Aug 1975 in Chennai to Krishna Ghattamaneni and Indira Devi. He attended St. Bede’s School and Loyola College both in Chennai. He has Honours degree in Commerce. He entered the films as a child artist when he was just four years old, he appeared in seven Telugu films as a child artist. His adult debut was with Rajakumarudu in 1999 opposite Preity Zinta, Prakash Raj and Jaya Prakash Reddy, the film was average hit at the box office. His first major blockbuster hit was Murari in 2001 alongside Sonali Bendre, Lakshmi and Prakash Raj. His subsequent hits were Okkadu, Athadu and Pokiri. His film Pokiri was such a huge hit that it was remade in Hindi, Tamil and Kannada. Mahesh Babu endorsed brands like Thums Up, Royal Stag, Amrutanjan, Idea Cellular, Jos Alukkas, Mahindra Tractors, Santoor Soap, TVS Motor Company etc.

His father Krishna Ghattamaneni is also an actor. He was born on 31st May 1943 in Burripalem. He married Indira Devi on 1st November 1961. The couple gave birth to Ramesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula, Mahesh Babu and Priyadarsini. He worked for more than 350 films in his film career. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2009 by Govt of India.

Mahesh Babu, popularly known as Prince, is one of the reigning young stars of Telugu cinema.

Born on 9th August 1974, Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu was born to actor Krishna and in Chennai. He is one of five siblings. He has an older brother Ramesh, two older sisters Padmavathi and Manjula and a younger sister Priyadarshini. 
He did his schooling at St Bede’s School in Chennai and obtained a degree in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai. Mahesh stands tall at a height of 6’3” and a  cricket fan.

Mahesh married Namrata Shirodkar, a former Ms. India and an actress in 2005 and they had a son Gautam Krishna Gattamaneni in 2006.

1999 to 2003
 Raja Kumaradu was Mahesh’s debut and starred him opposite Preity Zinta. His role as Raja won him the Nandi Best Male Debut. In 2000, he starred in Yuvaraju and Vamsi, in which he shared screen space with Namrata Shirodkar and his father Krishna. Murari in 2001 with Sonali Bendre won him the Nandi Award for Special Jury. He won the award again in 2002 for Takkari Donga with Lisa Ray and Bipasha Basu. Year 2003 was another year for award winning performances with Nandi Award for Best Actor for Nijam and Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award for Okkadu with Bhoomika Chawla.

2004 to 2009
Another Nandi Award for Special Jury went his way for his role in Arjun. The other release in 2004 was Naani. Athadu in 2005 was a money spinner and won him another Nandi Best Actor Award. The 2006 release Pokiri, made around the realty mafia, won him the Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award for his portrayal of Pandu, a thug. Athidi with Amrita Rao released in 2007 was directed by his brother Ramesh Babu. There were no releases in 2008. However his fans can look forward to Varudu which has him playing a taxi driver opposite Parvati Melton.

Mahesh Babu is an Indian film actor best known for his work in Telugu cinema. Born to actor Krishna, Mahesh Babu faced the camera at the age of four as a child artist in 1979's Needa.

His first leading role was in the film Rajakumarudu, which was released in August 1999.

After playing the role of a young Kabaddi player in the 2003 blockbuster film Okkadu, Mahesh continued in this vein, gaining mass appeal and appearing in many successful films such as Murari (2001), Athadu (2005), Pokiri (2006), Dookudu (2011) and Business Man (2012).

These accomplishments, have established him as one of the most sought after actors in Telugu Cinema.

Mahesh Babu is an Indian film actor, who is best known for his acting in Telugu movies. He debuted as a child artist at the age of four with the movie 'Needa'. Biography

Mahesh Babu was born on 9 August 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has completed his schooling at St. Bede's school and graduated in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai. He was just above average student. As he spent his early life in Chennai, he is not good at Telugu. After graduating, he met director L. Satyanand in Vishakhapatnam and took training in acting. Being unable to read and write Telugu, he used to memorise the dialogues given by his directors during the dubbing phase of the films.

In 1999, Mahesh made his comeback as a lead actor with the movie Raja Kumarudu (1999) followed by Yuvaraju (2000) and Vamsi (2000). For his acting in Murari (2001), he bagged a Nandi Special Jury Award. Mahesh essayed the role of a cowboy in Takkari Donga (2002), which won him another Nandi Special Jury Award. He was also seen in Bobby (2002). His next film Okkadu (2003) remains as a landmark film in his career. He won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for this movie and his next movie Nijam (2003) won him the prestigious Nandi Award for Best Actor. He was then seen in Naani (2004) produced by his sister Manjula and Arjun (2004) produced by his brother Ramesh Babu. The movie was followed by Sainikudu (2006), Athidi (2007) and [[Khaleja]] (2010). Mahesh also lent his voice for the film Jalsa (2008). His next release was Dookudu (2011) which broke several records in the Telugu film industry. The film took the largest worldwide opening and had set a box office record for the Telugu cinema by collecting a gross of more than one billion rupees. He was seen next in Business Man (2012) which similar to his previous release, took the largest worldwide opening.

After the big successes of Dookudu and Business Man, Mahesh emerged as the highest paid actor in South India after Rajnikanth. He was listed 5th in the Times survey of the 50 Most Desirable Men in India, becoming the only South Indian to have been done so. He climbed to the 2nd position of the same list the following year, beating the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan.In January 2013, Mahesh was ranked 31st on business magazine Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list. Based on recorded earnings between September 2011 and October 2012, Forbes listed Mahesh 15th among India's highest earning celebrities.With earnings of over INR422.5 million (US$6.8 million), he was the highest earning South Indian celebrity in 2012.
